The importance of addressing a hypothetical public audience.  Advice: speak of your project in the 3rd person (not 1st person), and in declarative voice (not conditional voice).  E.g.:

"This tool could help us develop our project"

"This tool facilitates the development of the XX Project (team members: A, B, C).  The XX Project creates a [short description].  The tool allows the project to . . ."
